Gillian Welch Time Rock Music CD Review
Time is the latest Rock CD put out by the richly talented Gillian Welch who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Gillian Welch fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.
Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Time. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.
Rock music fans will recognize some of the well known guests that have been assembled to play along with Welch on several of the tracks. Artists like David Rawlings and Matt Andrews just to name a couple.
Overall Time is an outstanding release. What I call must have music. I give it two thumbs up and is most definitely a worthy addition to any Rock collection. Truly an outstanding Rock CD. One of those that is completely void of any wasted time, as each track is simply superb.
While this entire album is outstanding some of my favorites are track 2 – My First Lover, track 6 – I Want So Sing That Rock And Roll, and track 10 – I Dream A Highway
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Revelator. What a nice track!

The Story $3.20 The Brandi Carlile story so far is fairly short: fresh-faced singer-song writer from rural Ravensdale, Washington, quietly releases a 2005 debut that has critics and fans reaching for their thesauruses searching for appropriate adjectives to describe her voice. Patsy Cline, Jeff Buckley, kd lang, Beth Orton, Linda Ronstadt, and Aimee Mann get name-checked as Carlile and her guitar-and-bass-playing… |

Eyes Open $7.51 Snow Patrol are frequently compared to Coldplay in the press, which seems strange as they write far better songs and do not appear to be quite so self-hating, nor as rich. Their delightfully dour little pop songs do touch on the melancholic side of things, but the lyrics are wonderfully slice-of-life descriptions. Singer/lyricist Gary Lightbody gives a shout-out to Sufjan Stevens when on the punch… |

Last Night $7.37 After three albums that seemed to find Moby in some sort of creative stasis, Last Night sees the once-restless DJ/producer changing the record and returning to one of his first loves: the heaving dancefloors of his native New York. Soulful, uplifting piano rave is the order of the day here, and while some hallmarks of Play remain–Moby still has a fascination for long, tearful synth lines and samp… |
